Our Story

CBPP was formed in 2016 after members of our executive leadership team departed from senior roles at Canada's largest financial institution. Through our extensive work with business owners over decades, we realized that many small and mid-sized businesses were overlooked by large consulting firms. This left business owners with a less than satisfactory experience for their employee pension, benefits and group savings programs. Blending our big business know-how and experience over the years, we launched CBPP to immediate warm reception and success.

Founder & President

Chris has 30 years of industry experience with Canada's largest banks and investment firms. He advises organizations, institutions, businesses and private client families on retirement and pension structures, wealth management solutions and insurance arrangements.

As part of a team of skilled financial professionals, Chris brings insightful, meaningful, and impactful financial solutions to his clients.

Through a deep understanding of investment management fees and fiduciary standards, combined with strong negotiation skills, Chris has helped Canadian organizations, business owners and their employees reduce unnecessary fees in their group retirement plans. This puts more money in the pockets of plan members and their families for education, retirement, and charitable giving.

Richard Hughes

Richard Hughes, CFP®


Richard started his career in finance as a personal account manager at Canada's largest financial institution. Through his dedication to his clients, he progressed to become ranked as one of the top 50 financial advisors in Canada.

Along the way, Richard received his designation as a registered discretionary portfolio manager, a Certified Financial Planner practitioner, and a Chartered Investment Manager.

Richard continued to serve his clients as he helped establish Investment Policy Statement protocols for a major Canadian Private Bank, ensuring the highest standards of fiduciary care and fee transparency were met across the organization.

Through his 18 years of experience with individual and institutional clients, as well as not-for-profit organizations, Richard's perspective remains grounded in the importance of professional financial advice and the positive impact it has on Canadian families.
